The House is an upcoming American comedy film directed by Andrew J. Cohen, who co-wrote it with Brendan O’Brien. The film stars Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, Ryan Simpkins, Jason Mantzoukas, Nick Kroll, Allison Tolman, Michaela Watkins, Cedric Yarbrough and Jeremy Renner. Principal photography began on September 14, 2015, in Los Angeles. The film is scheduled to be released on June 30, 2017, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
The plot of the story is that Scott (Ferrell) and his wife Kate (Poehler) team up with their neighbors to start an illegal casino in his basement to earn money, after they destroy their daughter’s college fund.
Said to be one of the funniest big-screen releases of the year, Poehler and Ferrell play a married couple, Kate and Scott Johansen, who find themselves in financial crisis after realizing that they don’t have enough money to pay for their daughter’s college tuition.
With the assistance of their friend, Frank, played by the funny Jason Mantzoukas, they come up with a rather attractive solution to their financial woes – start an illegal casino in their suburban home. They successfully bring Vegas to life in their basement toppled with a nail salon, poker parlor, and a strip club.
Forced to live double lives and now casino owners, they participate in many things that force them to question the morals and ethics in a rather humorous manner. This is best seen in the trailer, where both Scott and Kristen have to deal with a cheating guest which takes a disastrous turn. This movie showcases the difficult decisions parents are sometimes forced to make just to make their child happy and that with the casino in mind.
